Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Evidence-Based Therapy for Anxiety, Low Mood, and Patterns That Feel Stuck
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a well-established, evidence-based psychological therapy recommended for a range of difficulties including anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, panic, and low self-esteem.

I am BABCP accredited and offer CBT in line with recognised models and professional standards. CBT may be offered as a stand-alone therapy, or integrated thoughtfully within a broader trauma-informed approach, depending on your needs and preferences.
What is CBT?
CBT focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and behaviours. It is based on the understanding that the way we interpret experiences can strongly influence how we feel and respond.
In CBT, we work collaboratively to:
-
identify unhelpful patterns
-
understand how they developed
-
develop practical strategies for change
CBT is active, structured, and goal-oriented, with a focus on supporting change in the present.

What CBT Can Help With
CBT may be helpful if you are experiencing:
-
anxiety or excessive worry
-
panic attacks or phobias
-
OCD or intrusive thoughts
-
depression or low mood
-
low self-esteem or self-criticism
-
patterns of avoidance or unhelpful coping
Many people appreciate CBT for its clarity, structure, and practical focus.

How I Offer CBT
I offer CBT in a way that is:
-
collaborative and respectful
-
paced appropriately
-
responsive to your individual history and circumstances
For some people, CBT is the primary and most helpful approach. For others — particularly where difficulties are linked to trauma or long-standing emotional patterns — CBT may be used alongside other trauma-informed approaches.
Where CBT is integrated, this is done intentionally and transparently, without diluting its core principles.

CBT and Trauma-Informed Practice
CBT can be highly effective, but it does not suit everyone in the same way. When trauma is present, we work carefully to ensure that strategies feel supportive rather than pressurising or invalidating.
My approach allows space to explore why patterns exist, while also offering tools to help you move forward.
Working With Me
CBT sessions are available face-to-face in Preston and online across the UK, as 60-minute or 90-minute appointments.
